Common Mental Health Challenges Training w/ Antje Rath
People of all ages struggle with mental health challenges. NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, estimates one in five youth will experience a severe mental disorder. The World Health Organization reports that half of all mental illness begins by age 14. Furthermore, suicide is the second leading cause of death among 15- to 29-year-olds. Many practices, including mentoring, can support youth and reduce harmful behaviors.
In this workshop, Antje Rath, therapist at Moab Regional Hospital, will provide basic information on the most common types of mental health issues, underlying dynamics, and ways mentors can support children. Bring questions or descriptions of behaviors you would like to understand. Even better: send questions or observations directly to Antje via email beforehand:AntjeR@mrhmoab.org
